Master Thatchers Preserving Japan’s Traditional Landscapes and Culture
We are based in Kayabuki no Sato, a traditional thatched-roof village in Miyama, Nantan City, Kyoto. Our mission is to carry the landscapes and culture shaped by thatched roofing into the future.
A thatched roof is not just a roof—it is a symbol of a way of life deeply rooted in the Japanese climate and culture. We are committed to preserving this craftsmanship and passing on the richness it brings to future generations.
Our work goes beyond construction. We aim to protect and promote thatch as a living cultural practice, one that is closely tied to daily life. In addition to restoring thatched roofs across Japan, we propose ways of living in harmony with this tradition.
We will continue to protect the timeless landscapes and culture of thatched-roof living for generations to come.
